I was born and raised in Herrin, Illinois. My father, Chuck Cerutti was a coal miner at Old Ben Coal for 46 years and my mother Rose Visconti Cerutti worked at the White House office at Zeigler Coal Company Mine 4 in Johnston City, IL . My sister, Kathy Cerutti, works at Herrin Hospital and has been an employee for over 40 years.
I am a 1975 graduate of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (OLMC) and a 1979 graduate of Herrin High School. After attending Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, I began working at the Ziegler No. 11 Mine in Coulterville. I began working as a Driver Salesman for Southern Beverage in 1982, which later became Golden Eagle Distributing. In 1994, I was hired as a Sales Representative with Hamburg Distributing, which later became Glazer Wholesale from Dallas, TX until the company moved out of the State. In 2003, I went back to school to obtain my home inspection license and opened Advantage Home Inspections, Ltd. In 2004, I was asked to serve on the Williamson County Public Building Commission and in 2008 I was hired as the Building and Codes Administrator for the City of Herrin.
I have been married to Michelle Reed Cerutti for 20 years and we have three daughters, Ally, Micaela and Madison. Our oldest daughter, Ally married Thad Farlow and we have a 2 1/2 year old grandson, Maxwell Rea Farlow. Micaela is a freshman at John A. Logan College and Madison is a freshman at Herrin High School.
